The trailer begins with Chris focused on getting the counselor out of camp safely before sunset, why is this important, apparently he is a monster or at least knows there are monsters around.
They all have luggage and it seems that Jacob intends to take the van out with everyone in it and then Chris or someone else will come and pick it up sometime later, he obviously needs to be alone because of the werewolves or maybe something more sinister.
We can assume that the van didn’t work when Jacob test drove it, then we see Chris freaked out by the idea that they couldn’t leave before sunset, now assuming the vehicle was actually checked long before that means the bus was destroyed sometime before they planned to leave, which raises the question of who did it and why in the first place? Let’s establish why the van was so important especially when Chris had another vehicle ready to go and his vehicle could easily hold five people and there were seven advisors and they all had luggage to take with them which meant that even if he drove some of them out there would be some left behind given the obvious threat which was more dangerous than leaving everyone here, after all there’s strength in numbers and maybe you could squeeze all seven council members into Chris’ vehicle But he has to explain why they left all the property the next day, and considering he’s either a werewolf type considering he’s either a werewolf or covering up the presence of a werewolf, he wants the fewer questions the better Now the big question is whether the van was sabotaged or whether it simply doesn’t work The van not working is the beginning of the main plot of the game, and while that may be a complete coincidence, it’s dramatically dramatically unsatisfying so we can assume that’s not the case because why would you pass up a chance for a free dramatic twist that means the van must have been sabotaged so who did it I think there are three big possibilities, first the villain either killed Billies or Travis and Chris either because they wanted to kill someone or because in the past month they think one of them was killed in the past month they think one or more of the counselors saw something and now there’s a message that they can’t risk leaking out like you know the body in the lake so they break the van and wait for the kids to leave and plan to take care of the teens that night, after all we’ve seen we’ve seen the extreme lengths Travis will go to in order to keep the area a secret, and maybe this is just the next step in such a plan.
That said, the plan is a bit of a stretch, as the villain can’t be completely sure that all the counselors won’t pile into that minivan and head out.
Furthermore, if the goal is to keep an area secret, rather than have people pay closer attention to it, then having more people mysteriously disappear or having their brutally murdered bodies lying around doesn’t serve to reduce attention to the area; it seems more likely that they’re trapped in The second possibility is that all the counselors are involved for the simple reason that they want to have a big after-the-kids-leave party, and the counselors were apparently friendly with each other.
The counselors are obviously friendly with each other and getting away with something always makes the party more fun, so maybe everyone is trying to figure out how to make sure they have one more night at camp and the moment Chris drives off they are all excited that they made it, which has a good chance of happening because it plays into the 80’s stereotype. The third scenario is that someone did it for personal reasons, and who, specifically, may not be revealed to the audience until later, which is potentially the most satisfying of the three options, as it reflects a more deeply personal motivation than the kids definitely enjoyed the party. Based on their resumes, this seems to point to Jacob or Abigail, and the clip of Jacob being dumped or not dumped by Emma after dark may indicate that Jacob disabled the van in order to spend another night with Emma, hoping to cement their relationship, and that scene shows us his plan. How his plan came to fruition, but his actions ultimately led to his kidnapping by the Slayer, a ploy for which he will eventually pay a heavy price If this theory is accurate, Abigail may also be to blame, although her resume focuses on her penchant for summer romance, which is what may have happened that last night
