Pick a Trainer, a version and a piece for each slot to preview the colors together and see where each piece is sold, what it costs and whether the color is locked to the other version. The Trainer is the game’s own 3D model, with each piece shown in the color the game applies to it, and you can drag to turn it. The popular outfits below load with one click.
- Team Skull: Skull Tank (Po Town Pokémon Center, after you become Champion, ₽15,000) with black Capri Pants or a black Pleated Miniskirt, black socks, black Sporty Sneakers, and Aviator Shades or Oversized Sunglasses in gray from Gracidea.
- Gracidea luxury: the Hau’oli Mall boutique set. Male: black Trilby Hat, Collared Shirt, Loafers and Leather Backpack. Female: Beach Hat, Designer Top, Strappy Sandals and Satchel Bag. The bag alone is ₽378,000.
- Alola beach day: Surfing Tank (Hau’oli, ₽980), light blue Cutoff Jeans or Frayed Denim Shorts (Malie), white Mirrored Sunglasses (Heahea), plus an Athletic Cap or a Beach Hat.

- First-day budget: a white Plain Tee or V-Neck Tee, black Capri Pants or Pleated Shorts and white Crew Socks, all from the Hau’oli shop for under ₽3,000.
You change clothes in an apparel shop’s fitting room, not from the Bag or a Pokémon Center. The first shop is in Hau’oli City on Melemele Island, which you reach before Ilima’s trial. Heahea City, Konikoni City, Malie City and the Gracidea boutique in Hau’oli Mall each sell different pieces. Both versions sell white and black. Sun sells red, yellow, orange, pink and beige, and Moon sells green, blue, navy blue, purple and gray. Printed and denim pieces don’t follow that pattern. A Festival Plaza dye house can turn a white piece pastel, dark or bright. Those shades are new colors, not the other version’s shop colors. Your skin tone and gender stay as you set them at the start.
This page covers retail Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon on 3DS and 2DS, up to version 1.2. Prices are in Pokédollars (₽). Festival Coins (FC) are separate. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are separate games with more clothes, and they get their own section at the end. A Sun or Moon save can’t be loaded into them, and outfits never transfer.
Where you change clothes in Sun and Moon
The fitting room is inside the apparel shop
Every apparel shop has a fitting room. It’s the small room with the big mirror. Step inside to choose Change clothes. You can also change your contact lens color there, and lip color if your Trainer is female. Nothing else changes clothes: there’s no outfit option in the Bag, and the X menu doesn’t have one either.
If you played Pokémon X and Y, don’t look for a fitting room in the Pokémon Center. That was how X and Y did it. In Alola it’s always the apparel shop.
- Walk into any apparel shop. Look for the T-shirt sign.
- To buy something, talk to the clerk and choose a slot: tops, bottoms, socks, shoes, bags, hats, eyewear or hair accessories.
- After you pay, the clerk asks if you want to put on your latest purchases. Say yes to wear them right away.
- To wear something you already own, walk into the fitting room and choose Change clothes.
- Your ID photo updates to match your new look.
What Lillie gives you outside the Hau’oli shop
On your first visit to Hau’oli City’s shopping district, Lillie gives you the Lens Case outside the apparel shop. Female Trainers also get the Makeup Bag. You need the Lens Case to change contact color, and the Makeup Bag to put on lipstick. Both work in any fitting room.
Which clothing store to visit on each island
There’s a reason you keep finding new clothes. A shopper in one store explains that each island’s apparel shop has a different lineup. You don’t need to wait for new stock, and there isn’t any. Each shop just sells its own set of pieces.

Start in Hau’oli, then save up for Gracidea
The Hau’oli shop sells cheap basics: tees and tank tops at ₽980, capri pants and polo shirts at ₽1,120, and Crew Socks at ₽300. These pieces come in the most colors, so this is where you’ll see the Sun or Moon palette most clearly.
Gracidea is inside Hau’oli Mall, which opens after Hala’s grand trial. It’s the luxury shop. It doesn’t play the normal apparel shop music. Expect these prices:

Heahea and Konikoni
Heahea’s shop opens as soon as your boat docks on Akala. It has the Pokémon-print tanks, cargo shorts, Penny Loafers, Street Caps and Mirrored Sunglasses. Konikoni comes later on the same island and has the most variety. It sells the Pokémon graphic tees (Argyle, Chatot, Cherrim, Leppa and Necktie Tees at ₽4,980), the Luvdisc and Sandygast Tanks, ruffled blouses and skirts for female Trainers, the Messenger Bag, Knee Socks at ₽420, Low-Heeled Sandals at ₽34,200 and Low-Top Sneakers at ₽4,980. Olivia’s jewelry shop is across from the Konikoni Pokémon Center, and it sells hair accessories.
Malie, the Community Center and Po Town
Malie’s apparel shop is at the edge of Malie Garden. It has the denim: Cutoff Jeans (male) and Distressed Jeans (female) at ₽15,800, plus Frayed Denim Shorts, halter tops, camo pieces and the Sporty Bag and Backpack. The jeans follow their own color split: Light Blue is in both games, Blue and Navy Blue are Sun only, and Black and Faded Black are Moon only.
A seller inside the Malie Community Center has items that depend on your version. In Sun she sells rare Street Caps for ₽25,000. In Moon she sells rare shoes for ₽50,000: Penny Loafers for male Trainers, Espadrilles for female Trainers. Neither version gets the other’s rare items.
After you become Champion, go back to the Po Town Pokémon Center. A Grunt there sells the Skull Tank for ₽15,000 in both versions.
Nothing on Poni
Poni Island has no apparel shop. Seafolk Village’s Poké Mart sells TMs, not clothes. If you reached Poni still in your starting outfit, you’ve already walked past every shop. Fly back to Hau’oli, Heahea, Konikoni or Malie.
Sun colors and Moon colors
Most plain pieces come in 12 colors, and each version sells only some of them:

Prints, denim and sneakers that break the rule
Graphic tees, floral prints, camo, jeans and athletic sets use their own patterns, so the warm/cool split doesn’t apply to them. Check each one in the shop or in the tables below. Low-Top Sneakers are the strangest case: Sun sells them in white, Moon in black, and neither pair can be dyed.
The color is missing, or the dye didn’t work
To dye something, buy a piece in white and take it to a dye house in your Festival Plaza. You can’t dye in a city shop. A Festival Plaza staff member even tells you that you need to buy something white first.

Dye houses only come in one-star, three-star and five-star ranks. Each version has its own four teams. In Sun you get Team Red, Green, Orange and Purple. In Moon you get Team Yellow, Blue, Navy Blue and Pink. Berry dyes can make colors your teams don’t offer. A pastel berry dye uses 15 each of three Berries, and a dark one uses 30 each. For example, Pastel Red uses Pomeg, Tamato and Cheri Berries. There’s no berry recipe for bright shades, and a low-rank dye house can’t do every berry dye, so a higher rank gives you more options.
A dyed shade isn’t the other game’s shop color
This is the most common mix-up. Dyeing a white Plain Tee in Moon can give you Pastel Red, Dark Red or Bright Red, but never the plain Red that Sun’s shop sells. The game treats them as separate colors. To get the actual other-version color, you have to buy it from a Festival Plaza visitor who’s wearing it (see below).
Items the dye house won’t touch
Only pieces that are sold in white can be dyed. Some white pieces still can’t:
- Low-Top Sneakers, Casual Shorts, Ribbed Capris, Flower-Print Top and Sporty Knee Socks
- All eyewear (Horn-Rimmed Glasses and Mirrored Sunglasses come in white)
- All hair accessories, including the white Flower Barrette, Gem Barrette, Sea-Star Headband and Satin Bow Headband
Pieces that never come in white can’t be dyed either. That includes the Pokémon graphic tees, jeans, camo, the Skull Tank and your starting outfit.
Getting the white piece back
Dyeing changes the piece you own. It doesn’t make a copy, and the shop won’t sell you the same item twice. If you want white again, any dye house restores it for 10 FC. Then you can dye it a different shade.
Festival Plaza clothes after the online shutdown
Rank 10 and the FC price
From Festival Plaza rank 10, you can buy a piece of clothing from a visitor in your plaza. You pay in FC: about the shop price divided by 100, so a ₽980 tee costs 9 FC. The luxury pieces are cheaper than that, at the shop price divided by 200. The ₽378,000 bags cost 1,890 FC. You can’t buy a white piece that can be dyed, or any dyed piece, this way. Only visitors of your own gender offer clothes.
This is the only way to get the other version’s real shop colors. Until 2024 you could meet online visitors wearing the color you wanted. The 3DS online services shut down on 8 April 2024, so you can’t find strangers online anymore. Local wireless still works if a friend with the other version is nearby. Otherwise, dyeing is the practical way to get a color your shop doesn’t sell.
Hair, eyes and lipstick
Three salons, and none in Heahea
Haircuts and hair color happen at a salon, which has a scissors sign. The apparel shop can’t do them. There are salons in Hau’oli City (next to the apparel shop), Konikoni City and Malie City. Heahea doesn’t have one. You can choose a cut, a color, or both. The stylist tells you the price and asks you to confirm before starting. Female Trainers also choose bangs. Your ID photo is retaken afterward.
Hair colors: Black, Honey blond, Dark brown, Ash brown, Caramel blond, Platinum blond, Pink brown, Wine red and White. Wine red, White and some extra styles only appear after you enter the Hall of Fame.
Contacts and lipstick in the fitting room
- Contact colors: Hazel, Gray, Green, Blue, Black, Yellow, Brown, plus Burgundy and Violet after the Hall of Fame. You need the Lens Case.
- Lip colors (female Trainers only): No lipstick, Nude Pink, Coral Orange, Bright Pink, Summer Red, Deep Burgundy, Icy Blue. You need the Makeup Bag.
What you can’t change
You choose gender and skin tone at the start of the game, and they never change. Each gender has four starting looks. Later you can only change your hair, contacts, lipstick and clothes. Some hairstyles can’t be worn with certain accessories, and the shop warns you before you buy one of those.
There’s no dress slot like in X and Y. Female Trainers can wear skirts with a matching top. Male bottoms are shorts, capris, cargo shorts and jeans. Clothes are purely cosmetic: they don’t change battles, trials or catch rates.
What Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon add
The Kommo-o and Lurantis outfits
The Gracidea outfit that costs over ₽2,000,000 is from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. The male Kommo-o armor and the female Lurantis set cost about ₽2,400,000 for the full set, and they aren’t in Sun and Moon at all. In Sun and Moon, the most expensive piece is the ₽378,000 leather bag.
Photo Club mirrors and extra outfits
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon add about 30 more pieces per gender, Alola Photo Club fitting rooms, and gift outfits such as the Pikachu Valley shirt and cap. In Sun and Moon, the Water Shoes, Baseball Cap and Nylon Backpack (or the female Trekking Shoes, Casual Cap and Nylon Shoulder Bag) are only your starting outfit. Ultra sells them. None of this carries over from a Sun or Moon save. See Sun vs Ultra Sun for everything else that changed.
Every piece, by slot
Every piece sold in Sun and Moon, grouped by slot. “Both” colors are sold in either version; Sun and Moon columns list the version-only colors. A color listed under the other version can only come from a rank-10 Festival Plaza visitor. “Not in shops” colors aren’t sold anywhere in Alola.

Frequently asked questions
Where are the clothing stores in Pokémon Sun and Moon?
Hau’oli City and Hau’oli Mall (Gracidea) on Melemele, Heahea City and Konikoni City on Akala, and Malie City on Ula’ula. Olivia’s jewelry shop in Konikoni sells hair accessories, and the Malie Community Center and the Po Town Pokémon Center (after you become Champion) sell a few extra pieces. Poni Island has no shop.
How do you change clothes you already bought?
Walk into any apparel shop’s fitting room, the small room with the big mirror, and choose Change clothes.
Why doesn’t Pokémon Moon sell red, yellow or orange clothes?
Those are Sun colors. Moon sells green, blue, navy blue, purple and gray instead. Both games sell white and black.
Can you dye clothes to the other version’s color?
No. Dye houses make pastel, dark and bright shades. The other version’s shop color can only come from a Festival Plaza visitor at rank 10.
Can you change your skin tone after the intro?
No. Skin tone and gender are fixed once you start the game. Hair, contacts, lipstick and clothes can all be changed.
Are there dresses?
No. Sun and Moon have no dress slot. Female Trainers can wear skirts with a top.
How much does the hair salon cost?
It depends on whether you choose a cut, a color or both. The stylist tells you the price and asks you to confirm before starting, so save first if you’re unsure.
Is the Kommo-o outfit in Pokémon Sun and Moon?
No. The Kommo-o and Lurantis sets are only in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
