There is no Sableye Mega Stone in Pokémon X or Y. The stone is called Sablenite, and it isn’t in X and Y at all: there’s no item, no sparkle and no Mega Sableye form, before or after the Elite Four. You can still catch a normal Sableye in Reflection Cave (5% of walking encounters, Lv. 22–23). To Mega Evolve it, you need another game. In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Sablenite is a sparkle in Sootopolis City; in Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon it costs 64 BP at the Battle Tree; in Legends: Z-A it costs 180 Mega Shards at Quasartico Inc. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are the same here.

This page covers Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, up to the final update, version 1.5. If you’re playing Legends: Z-A on Switch or Pokémon GO, skip to where Sablenite is in other games.
There is no Sableye Mega Stone in Pokémon X or Y
X and Y’s item data has 30 Mega Stones, from Venusaurite to Latiosite. Not all of them can be found in Kalos (Latiasite and Latiosite can only be traded in), but Sablenite isn’t on the list at all. Sableye also has only one form in X and Y: the game has no Mega Sableye model or stats to change into, so even a Sableye holding a stone from another game couldn’t Mega Evolve here.
Mega Sableye was announced in 2014 for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, along with other new Megas such as Mega Sharpedo and Mega Altaria. X and Y kept getting updates until version 1.5 in April 2015, but none of them added Sablenite.

Sablenite, Shalour Sable or an evolution stone?
- Sablenite is Sableye’s Mega Stone, a held item. Other names: ヤミラミナイト (Japanese), Ténéfixite (French), Zobirisnit (German).
- Shalour Sable is a cookie from Shalour City, right next to Reflection Cave. It heals status conditions. It has nothing to do with Sableye.
- Evolution stones like the Dusk Stone don’t work on Sableye. It doesn’t evolve at all.
Why the 8 PM sparkle hunt won’t find it
Most Mega Stones in X and Y are hidden sparkles. They only appear after you beat your rival in Kiloude City and Professor Sycamore upgrades your Mega Ring at the Anistar City sundial, and only between 8:00 and 8:59 PM on the 3DS clock. If a sparkle stone such as Scizorite won’t show up, one of these steps is missing. Absolite is different: your rival gives it to you after the Kiloude City battle, with no evening time window.
None of that applies to Sablenite. No sparkle in Kalos ever gives it, at any time, before or after the Mega Ring upgrade. If you’ve walked every route at 8 PM and found nothing for Sableye, your game is working fine.
- Mega Ring not upgraded: explains missing Kalos stones, not Sablenite.
- 3DS clock outside 8:00–8:59 PM: same, Kalos stones only.
- Pokémon X vs Y: no difference for Sableye.
- A stone from a trade or Wonder Trade: a Pokémon holding Sablenite can’t be traded into X and Y at all (see below).
Mawile does get a Mega Stone in X and Y
Mawile is the other small Hoenn cave Pokémon, and Mega Mawile is in X and Y. Catch Mawile in Glittering Cave (5%, Lv. 15–16). Its Mawilite is on the second floor of Shabboneau Castle in Camphrier Town, after the Mega Ring upgrade, between 8:00 and 8:59 PM. Mega Sableye came a year later, in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

| Mawile | Sableye | |
|---|---|---|
| Catch in X and Y | Glittering Cave, 5% | Reflection Cave, 5% |
| Mega Stone in X and Y | Mawilite, Shabboneau Castle 2F | None |
| Mega form in X and Y | Yes | No |
| First game with its Mega | X and Y | Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire |
Where to catch Sableye in X and Y
Reflection Cave (5%)
Reflection Cave connects Route 11 and Shalour City. Sableye shows up while walking on every floor, at the same rate in X and Y:
| Pokémon | Chance | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Mr. Mime | 20% | 22–23 |
| Roggenrola | 20% | 21–22 |
| Solosis | 20% | 22–23 |
| Chingling | 15% | 21–22 |
| Wobbuffet | 10% | 22 |
| Carbink | 10% | 23 |
| Sableye | 5% | 22 (4%) or 23 (1%) |

Sableye doesn’t appear in hordes, so Sweet Scent won’t find it; just keep walking. Its catch rate is 45, and Dusk Balls work well inside caves. Normal- and Fighting-type moves can’t hit it, and that includes False Swipe, so lower its HP with weak moves of other types instead. Its only weakness is Fairy.
Friend Safari: Dark type, third slot
After the Hall of Fame, a Dark-type Friend Safari in Kiloude City can have Sableye as its third Pokémon, at Lv. 30. The other third-slot options in that safari are Liepard, Inkay and Absol, so not every Dark safari has Sableye. The third slot doesn’t open just because your friend has entered the Hall of Fame: your games also have to connect while you’re both past the Hall of Fame. X and Y online play ended in April 2024. You can still add friend codes, but a new friend’s third slot (and Hidden Abilities) can now only be unlocked by playing together over local wireless. Safaris you unlocked before keep their Pokémon.
Can you trade Sablenite into X and Y?
No. A Pokémon holding Sablenite in Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire is blocked from trading into X and Y, because X and Y don’t know the item. Take the stone off first, and the Sableye can come over, but it still can’t Mega Evolve in X and Y.
One exception: Latiasite and Latiosite are already in X and Y, even though they first became obtainable in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, so those two can be traded in. Sablenite isn’t, so it can’t.
Where Sablenite is in other games

| Game | Where | Cost or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Pokémon X and Y | Not in the game | None |
| Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire | Sootopolis City | Sparkle in the southeast of the area with the Cave of Origin entrance; needs Surf |
| Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon | Battle Tree | 64 BP |
| Legends: Z-A | Quasartico Inc. | 180 Mega Shards, after Main Mission 10 |
| Pokémon GO | No held stone | Sableye Mega Energy |
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: Sootopolis City
- Reach Sootopolis City in the main story. You don’t need the Delta Episode.
- Surf across the crater lake to the island with the entrance to the Cave of Origin.
- Look for the sparkle in the southeast part of that area and press A.
You need the Mega Bracelet, which you already have by this point, and a Sableye to hold it. Wild Sableye is only in Alpha Sapphire; in Omega Ruby, trade for one. You can also move one from X or Y with Pokémon Bank, but only if you downloaded Bank before: first-time downloads have ended, though an earlier download can still be redownloaded. The service ends on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST (February 26 in Asia).
Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: Battle Tree
In Alola, Sablenite is sold for 64 BP by the clerk on the right at the Battle Tree, in all four games. You earn BP by winning Battle Tree streaks after the main story.
Legends: Z-A: Quasartico Inc., not the Stone Emporium
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Switch, the receptionist on the right at Quasartico Inc. in the Magenta District trades Sablenite for 180 Mega Shards. You can go inside after Main Mission 10, “The Secrets of Mega Evolution.” Each Mega Stone can only be bought once per save. The Stone Emporium doesn’t sell it.
Since update 2.0.1 (January 2026) you can carry up to 9,999 Mega Shards instead of 999. Sablenite still costs 180.
Pokémon GO: Mega Energy
Pokémon GO has no Sablenite item. Mega Sableye uses Sableye Mega Energy, mostly from Mega Raids. During Halloween 2026 Part II (November 1 at 10:00 AM to November 5 at 8:00 PM, 2026, local time), Mega Sableye can reach Super Max Mega Level for the first time and learns Night Shade+ while Mega Evolved.
What Mega Sableye does
Here’s what you’d get in the later games. Mega Sableye keeps Sableye’s Dark and Ghost typing, so its only weakness is Fairy. In Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, its Ability becomes Magic Bounce, which reflects most status moves back at the user (Legends: Z-A has no Abilities in the usual sense), and its defenses jump while its Speed drops:
| Stat | Sableye | Mega Sableye |
|---|---|---|
| HP | 50 | 50 |
| Attack | 75 | 85 |
| Defense | 75 | 125 |
| Sp. Atk | 65 | 85 |
| Sp. Def | 65 | 115 |
| Speed | 50 | 20 |
| Total | 380 | 480 |

In X and Y, Sableye’s Abilities are Keen Eye or Stall, plus the hidden Ability Prankster. A Prankster Sableye from the Friend Safari is a good support Pokémon there even without a Mega. If you specifically want Mega Sableye, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is the closest 3DS game: you can pick up the stone in Sootopolis, and an existing Pokémon Bank install can still move your Sableye over until February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST.
