Before you open a hint

Use the chocolate squares as a grid. Equal area alone is not enough: the four outlines must match after rotation.

Hints, one at a time

These are the game's own hints, word for word from the North American version and in the same order. Open only the next one you need. In the game, Hints 1 to 3 cost one hint coin each and the Super Hint costs two.

Hint 1

Start by counting how many individual squares of chocolate there are, then work out how many each sibling should get.

Hint 2

Each sibling should receive a chunk of chocolate consisting of five squares. They also need one almond each.

Hint 3

Draw a line so that the top two rows are separated from the rest of the chocolate. That's one sibling's portion.

Now find a way to divide the rest of the chocolate so that the others get a piece the same size and shape as this one.

Super Hint

Once you've separated the top two rows, do the same for the bottom two. Now you've made two identical pieces.

Next, start from the almond on the third row, count four squares along, and draw a line down between the fourth and fifth squares on that row. Continue that line back two squares to the left and then around the top-left corner of the almond on the fourth row. That should do it!

Answer and full solution

The answer and the worked explanation are hidden below. Open them when you are ready.

Show the answer

Separate the top two rows and the bottom two rows, then split the middle with a stepped line. The completed division is shown below.

  1. Draw a horizontal cut beneath the top two rows, across the four-square-wide section.
  2. Draw the corresponding horizontal cut above the bottom two rows.
  3. In the middle band, start on the upper cut at the boundary between its third and fourth squares from the left. Go down one square, left two squares, then down one square to reach the lower cut.

The four pieces each contain five chocolate squares and one almond. Turn the pieces to compare their outlines; none needs to be stretched or cut again.
