In Pokémon X, wild Eevee lives on Route 10 (Menhir Trail), between Cyllage City and Geosenge Town. Walk in the yellow flowers on the southern hillside just after you enter from Cyllage City. Eevee is 20% of encounters there, at Lv. 19–20. In the green tall grass between the standing stones it drops to 5%, at Lv. 21. Don’t use a Repel with a Lv. 21 or higher lead in the flowers, because it blocks every Eevee. You can also trade any Pokémon to Elena, a Maid in the six small Kalos hotels, for a Lv. 5 female Eevee called Stevie, or catch a Lv. 30 Eevee in a post-game Normal-type Friend Safari. Pokémon Y has the same Eevee spots and rates.

This page covers Pokémon X and Y on Nintendo 3DS, 2DS and New 3DS, up to update 1.5. Eevee isn’t version-exclusive, and Professor Sycamore never gives one away. You catch it on Route 10, trade for it in a hotel, find it in a Normal Friend Safari, or breed it at the Route 7 Day Care.
Every way to get Eevee in Pokémon X and Y
| Source | Location | Eevee rate | Level | When and notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yellow flowers (best) | Route 10, southern hillside | 20% | 19–20 | Once you reach Cyllage City, before or after the second Gym. A Lv. 19 Eevee knows Baby-Doll Eyes. |
| Tall grass | Route 10, between the standing stones | 5% | 21 | Once you reach Cyllage City. A quarter of the flower rate. |
| Maid Elena’s trade | Six small Kalos hotels (2F, first room) | Guaranteed, once per save | 5 | Talk to her on three separate days; she trades on the fourth for any Pokémon. Always female (Stevie), holds a Rare Candy. |
| Normal Friend Safari | Kiloude City (slot 3) | 33.3% in a three-slot Safari | 30 | Post-game. One in four Normal Safaris has Eevee in slot 3. Two IVs at 31; the only Kalos source of its Hidden Ability, Anticipation. |
| Day Care breeding | Route 7 Pokémon Day Care | Guaranteed (Eggs) | 1 | A female Eevee, or any Eevee plus a Ditto from Pokémon Village (reached before the eighth Badge). Hatches at 120 friendship. |
Route 10: where the 20% yellow flowers are
Route 10 (Menhir Trail) runs from the north exit of Cyllage City to Geosenge Town. You can walk onto it as soon as you arrive in Cyllage City, even before you challenge Grant for the second badge. The obvious route is straight up the middle between the rows of standing stones, but every patch there is ordinary tall grass, where Eevee is 5% at Lv. 21.
The yellow flowers, with Eevee at 20% and Lv. 19–20, are all at the southern end of the route:
- Leave Cyllage City by the north exit and cross the bridge onto Route 10.
- Follow the dirt path up to the southern entrance of the standing stones. A strip of yellow flowers sits right in front of the first stone wall.
- Go right (east) of that first wall, past Psychic Robert, to the bigger yellow-flower beds on the south-eastern hillside.
- Walk back and forth in those flowers, with no Repel or with a lead at Lv. 19 or lower, until Eevee shows up.

Full Route 10 wild encounter table
Grass and flower tables in Pokémon X and Y have 12 slots: nine at 10%, then one each at 5%, 4% and 1%. In the yellow flowers Eevee has two 10% slots, one at Lv. 19 and one at Lv. 20. In the tall grass it has only the 5% slot, at Lv. 21. Houndour (X) and Electrike (Y) are the only version difference.
| Pokémon | Yellow flowers | Yellow flower levels | Tall grass | Tall grass levels |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eevee | 20% (10% Lv. 19 + 10% Lv. 20) | 19–20 | 5% | 21 |
| Snubbull | 30% | 19–21 | 10% | 21 |
| Houndour (X) / Electrike (Y) | 20% | 19–20 | 10% | 21 |
| Golett | 10% | 21 | 30% | 19–21 |
| Sigilyph | 10% | 21 | 20% | 19–20 |
| Hawlucha | 5% | 21 | 20% | 19–20 |
| Emolga | 5% (4% Lv. 19 + 1% Lv. 20) | 19–20 | 5% (4% Lv. 19 + 1% Lv. 20) | 19–20 |
Why Lv. 19 or Lv. 20–21 matters for evolution
A wild Pokémon knows the last four moves it learned by level, so one level changes Eevee’s moveset on Route 10.
- A Lv. 19 Eevee, half of the flower Eevee, knows Baby-Doll Eyes (a Fairy move), Swift, Quick Attack and Bite. With a Fairy move already learned, it turns into Sylveon at its next level-up once it has two Pokémon-Amie hearts. For Espeon or Umbreon, keep it out of Pokémon-Amie or replace Baby-Doll Eyes first.
- A Lv. 20 or 21 Eevee, the other half of the flower Eevee and every tall-grass Eevee, learned Refresh at Lv. 20, which pushed Baby-Doll Eyes out. It knows Swift, Quick Attack, Bite and Refresh, and can’t become Sylveon by accident until it learns Charm (Fairy) at Lv. 29.
- Route 10 Eevee has no recoil move. It doesn’t learn Take Down until Lv. 25, so False Swipe is safe.
Why you can’t find Eevee on Route 10

- A Repel with a Lv. 20 or higher lead in the yellow flowers. Repel stops any wild Pokémon whose level is lower than your lead’s. By level, the flower table splits into 34% Lv. 19 (Snubbull 10%, Houndour or Electrike 10%, Eevee 10%, Emolga 4%), 31% Lv. 20 (Snubbull 10%, Houndour or Electrike 10%, Eevee 10%, Emolga 1%) and 35% Lv. 21 (Snubbull 10%, Golett 10%, Sigilyph 10%, Hawlucha 5%).
- Lv. 20 lead: the Lv. 19 slots are blocked, including the Lv. 19 Eevee that knows Baby-Doll Eyes. Lv. 20 Eevee makes up 10% ÷ 66%, about 15.15%, of the battles you still get.
- Lv. 21 lead: every Lv. 19 and Lv. 20 slot is blocked, which takes out both Eevee slots. Lv. 21 Snubbull, Golett, Sigilyph and Hawlucha keep appearing, so the Repel doesn’t seem to be doing anything, but you’ll never see Eevee.
- Lv. 22 or higher lead: no wild battles at all in the flowers or the grass, since nothing on Route 10 is above Lv. 21.
- A Lv. 21 Repel in the tall grass. In the grass, Eevee is Lv. 21 (5%), along with Lv. 21 Golett (10%), Snubbull (10%) and Houndour or Electrike (10%). A Lv. 21 lead with Repel blocks the 65% of slots at Lv. 19–20 and leaves the 35% at Lv. 21. Eevee is then 5% ÷ 35%, about 14.3%, of the battles you get, and most steps give nothing. The southern flowers without a Repel give 20% on every battle.
- Walking between the standing stones. Every patch along the north–south rows of stones toward Geosenge Town is 5% tall grass. Go back to the southern hillside near the Cyllage City entrance.
- Honey or Sweet Scent. Route 10 hordes are five Nosepass (Lv. 10, 60%), five Yanma (Lv. 10, 35%) or five Houndour in X and five Electrike in Y (Lv. 11, 5%). Eevee never appears in a horde anywhere in Kalos.
- Route 10 is closed. After your seventh badge in Anistar City and the fight with Lysandre behind Lysandre Café, Team Flare Grunts block Route 10 while the ultimate weapon wakes up in Geosenge Town. Clear the Team Flare Secret HQ in Geosenge Town to open it again. Until then, use the hotel trade or the Route 7 Day Care.
- Eevee keeps breaking out. Its catch rate is 45, about a 12% chance with a plain Poké Ball at full HP. Throw a Quick Ball on the first turn (sold for $1,000 at the Poké Ball Boutique in Lumiose City and the Snowbelle City Poké Mart), or use False Swipe plus paralysis or sleep before throwing Great, Ultra or Luxury Balls.
Maid Elena’s Eevee trade (Stevie)

A travelling Maid named Elena trades a female Eevee holding a Rare Candy. It’s the easy way to get a female for breeding without hunting for one in the wild.
How to unlock the trade
- She moves between six small hotels: Camphrier Town, Ambrette Town, Cyllage City, Geosenge Town, Coumarine City and Couriway Town. She never stays at Hotel Richissime in Lumiose City.
- Go up to 2F and into the first room by the stairs. The guests in these rooms change every day, so fly between the six hotels until you find her.
- Talk to her on three separate days. They don’t have to be in a row, and the hotel doesn’t matter.
- Day 1: “This is my first vacation in such a long time!”
- Day 2: “The Kalos region is so very big!”
- Day 3: “Everyone in the Kalos region is so very nice!”
- On the fourth day she says: “I’d so very like to trade Pokémon with you! I’d so very like to trade this Eevee that I brought all the way from the Sinnoh region with one of your Pokémon!” Any Pokémon will do.
Don’t change the 3DS clock to skip days. The game penalizes daily events when the system time changes, and the hotel guests stop rotating for a while.

Post-game: Normal Friend Safari and Poké Radar

Kiloude City Normal-type Friend Safari (slot 3)
After you beat Champion Diantha, take the TMV from Lumiose City to Kiloude City and go into the Friend Safari. Each Friend Code gives a Safari of one of the 18 types with three Pokémon slots. In a Normal-type Safari, slot 3 is one of four species, each equally likely: Eevee, Ditto, Smeargle or Chansey.
- Every Safari Pokémon is Lv. 30. With all three slots open, each slot is 33.3% of encounters.
- Safari Pokémon have at least two IVs at 31. The Safari is also the only place in Pokémon X and Y to catch Eevee with its Hidden Ability, Anticipation. That becomes Magic Bounce on Espeon and Pixilate on Sylveon.
- A Lv. 30 Safari Eevee knows Refresh, Covet, Take Down and Charm (Fairy). Take Down hurts the user with 25% recoil, so don’t leave it at 1 HP with False Swipe unless you lead with a Ghost type (immune to Take Down) or put it to sleep.
The 3DS online shutdown on April 8, 2024 changed how slot 3 opens. Adding a Friend Code only opens slots 1 and 2. Slot 3 and Hidden Abilities need a friend who has entered the Hall of Fame, and your game has to register that through the Player Search System (PSS) after they cleared it, by both of you being connected at the same time. You don’t need to battle or trade, and it only has to happen once, not on every visit. That can’t be done over the internet any more. A slot 3 you unlocked before April 2024 stays open on your save, and you can still unlock new ones in person over local wireless with a second 3DS that has beaten the game.
Chaining Eevee with the Poké Radar on Route 10
After the Hall of Fame, go to 2F of Professor Sycamore’s Lab in Lumiose City and talk to the scientist on the right for the Poké Radar. On Route 10 you can chain Eevee for better IVs or a Shiny. For the full rules and odds, see how to use the Poké Radar:
- Stand inside the southern yellow-flower bed, away from the edge, so the first encounter has a 20% chance of being Eevee.
- Move with the +Control Pad only. The Circle Pad puts on your Roller Skates, and skating breaks the chain.
- Use a Super Repel or Max Repel with a Lv. 22 or higher lead. A Lv. 21 lead still lets random Lv. 21 battles through, and those can break the chain. Radar patches ignore your lead’s level, so the Repel stops random battles without stopping Radar Eevee.
- Only step into patches that shake hard, at least 4 tiles away and not touching the edge of the flower bed. A gently shaking patch can hold a different species, and a faintly shaking one ends the chain.
Getting a female Eevee and breeding more on Route 7

On paper, Eevee is 87.5% male and 12.5% female (7:1). The Generation VI gender roll makes a 7:1 species female about 11.9% of the time. So in the Route 10 flowers, only about 2.4–2.5% of random encounters are a female Eevee (20% × 11.9–12.5%). For a female, or enough Eevee for all eight evolutions, there are three shortcuts.
- Lead with a male Cute Charm Pokémon. With a Cute Charm Pokémon first in the party, even fainted, a wild Pokémon is the opposite gender 2/3 of the time, and the other 1/3 rolls as usual. A male Cute Charm Skitty (Route 4) or Jigglypuff (Route 20) raises the female Eevee rate to about 70.6% (2/3 + 1/3 × 11.90%), or 70.8% with the 12.5% figure.
- Trade for Stevie. Stevie is always female. Leave her at the Route 7 Day Care with any male from the Field Egg Group, such as a male Route 10 Eevee, Houndour, Electrike or Snubbull, and you’ll get Eevee Eggs.
- Breed a male Eevee with Ditto. If all your Eevee are male, pair one with a Ditto at the Route 7 Day Care. Wild Ditto lives in Pokémon Village, south of Snowbelle City, which the story takes you to before the eighth badge: 20% in the yellow flowers (Lv. 48–49) and 10% in the purple flowers (Lv. 50). It’s also in slot 3 of Normal Friend Safaris at Lv. 30.
An Eevee Egg takes 35 egg cycles, which at 257 steps per cycle in Generation VI is about 8,995 steps. A Pokémon with Flame Body or Magma Armor in the party, such as Fletchinder or Talonflame, halves that. Hatching Power (Lv. 1–3) from the PSS stacks on top, and Flame Body with Hatching Power Lv. 3 cuts the steps to about a quarter. A hatched Eevee starts at 120 friendship, not a wild Eevee’s 70, which makes Espeon and Umbreon much quicker.
How to evolve Eevee in Pokémon X and Y
None of Eevee’s eight evolutions are in the wild in Kalos. Three come from stones, and five from a level-up under the right conditions.
| Evolution | Type | How to evolve in Pokémon X and Y | Where to get the stone or go |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vaporeon | Water | Use a Water Stone | Lumiose City Stone Emporium ($2,100), Route 12 (Surf), or Secret Super Training |
| Jolteon | Electric | Use a Thunder Stone | Route 10 (in the northwest corner of the middle field of standing stones), Route 11, or Secret Super Training |
| Flareon | Fire | Use a Fire Stone | Lumiose City Stone Emporium ($2,100), Route 9 (at the end of the narrow cliffside path near the Paralyze Heal), or Secret Super Training |
| Leafeon | Grass | Level up anywhere on Route 20 (Winding Woods) | The Moss Rock is on Route 20, south of Snowbelle City; any level-up on the route counts |
| Glaceon | Ice | Level up in the Ice Rock room of Frost Cavern | Frost Cavern, north of Dendemille Town: on 2F, surf across the stream and take the stairs down to the Ice Rock room on 1F |
| Sylveon | Fairy | Level up with two or more Pokémon-Amie hearts while knowing a Fairy move | A Lv. 19 Route 10 Eevee already knows Baby-Doll Eyes; Charm comes at Lv. 29 |
| Espeon | Psychic | Level up with 220+ friendship during the day (4:00 AM–7:59 PM on the 3DS clock) | How to get Espeon in Pokémon X |
| Umbreon | Dark | Level up with 220+ friendship at night (8:00 PM–3:59 AM on the 3DS clock) | How to get Umbreon in Pokémon X |
When Eevee meets more than one level-up condition, the game checks Route 20 (Leafeon) and the Ice Rock room (Glaceon) first, then Sylveon, then Espeon by day or Umbreon by night. An Eevee with high friendship, two Amie hearts and Baby-Doll Eyes always becomes Sylveon, so have the Move Deleter in Dendemille Town remove Baby-Doll Eyes before you level it for Espeon or Umbreon.
For Route 10’s layout, items and trainers in 3D, open the interactive Kalos map. Eevee is #077 in the Coastal section of the Kalos Pokédex. For the Alola games, see where to find Eevee in Pokémon Moon and Sun.
FAQ
Where can I find Eevee in Pokémon X?
Wild Eevee is only on Route 10 (Menhir Trail), between Cyllage City and Geosenge Town, apart from the Friend Safari. It’s 20% in the southern yellow flowers (Lv. 19–20) and 5% in the tall grass (Lv. 21). You can also trade for a Lv. 5 female Eevee (Stevie) from Maid Elena in the six small hotels, or catch a Lv. 30 Eevee in a post-game Normal Friend Safari in Kiloude City.
Is Eevee in Pokémon Y too?
Yes, with the same 20% flower rate, 5% grass rate, hotel trade and Friend Safari slot. On Route 10, only Houndour (X) and Electrike (Y) differ.
Does Professor Sycamore give you an Eevee in Pokémon X and Y?
No. In Lumiose City he gives you a Kanto starter (Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle), not an Eevee. The nearest thing to a gift Eevee is Maid Elena’s trade, which takes any Pokémon once you’ve talked to her on three separate days.
Why do I get battles in the Route 10 flowers, or none at all, but never Eevee?
You have a Repel on with a Lv. 21 or higher Pokémon in front. Eevee in the flowers is Lv. 19–20, while Snubbull, Golett, Sigilyph and Hawlucha have Lv. 21 slots (35% of the table). A Lv. 21 lead with Repel blocks every Eevee but still lets the Lv. 21 Pokémon through, and a Lv. 22 lead blocks everything. A Lv. 20 lead blocks the Lv. 19 Eevee and leaves Eevee at about 15.15% of the battles you get. Turn the Repel off or lead with a Pokémon at Lv. 19 or lower.
Why is a female Eevee so hard to find?
Eevee is 87.5% male on paper, and about 11.90% female with the Generation VI gender roll. Put a male Cute Charm Pokémon, such as a Skitty from Route 4, first in your party. It makes wild Pokémon female 2/3 of the time and rolls normally the rest, for about 70.6% female Eevee (70.8% with the 12.5% figure). Or trade with Maid Elena for Stevie, who is always female.
Can I still get a Hidden Ability Eevee from the Friend Safari in 2026?
Only if you unlocked a Normal-type friend’s third slot before Nintendo Network shut down on April 8, 2024, or your game sees a friend who has entered the Hall of Fame in the PSS over local wireless, in person. No battle or trade is needed, and once is enough. Adding a Friend Code alone only opens slots 1 and 2.
