Boutique Couture is the high-end clothing shop on Vernal Avenue in Lumiose City, and the clerk at the door only lets you in once your hidden Lumiose style reaches 25. The shop is the same in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, and you can reach the door on your first visit to the city. The fastest way in is the Poké Ball Boutique on Autumnal Avenue once the Lumiose blackout is over: buy one Premier Ball, pay, and repeat. Each separate payment adds 2 style, so 13 single purchases (about $2,600) take a new save from 0 to the door. Women’s clothes are on the first floor, men’s clothes are upstairs, and prices run from $800 to $300,000.

Why the clerk won’t let you in
Lumiose City keeps a hidden style score for your character. It starts at 0, can go up to 255, and is never shown as a number anywhere in the game. Boutique Couture checks it every time you walk up to the door. Below 25, the clerk at the door turns you away with this line:
“Oh, you are not as stylish as you could be! I’m so sorry to tell you this. This is a place for stylish people only. May I suggest you try various things in Lumiose City before you come back again?”
At 25 or higher the clerk says “Wow, you are so stylish! Please do come in!” instead. Boutique Couture admits you once your Lumiose style reaches 25. Your outfit, your badges and your story progress don’t matter. Only the style score does.

Where Boutique Couture is
The shop is on Vernal Avenue, the avenue that links South Boulevard with Centrico Plaza and Prism Tower, between the Vert and Bleu Districts. It’s on the Vert District side. South Boulevard and Vernal Avenue are open from your first visit, so you can find the door long before you can get in. The Stone Emporium is on the same avenue, which helps later when you check your style. The Kalos map shows where Lumiose sits in the region.
- Enter Lumiose City from Route 4 and you arrive on South Boulevard.
- Follow South Boulevard to the turn-off for Vernal Avenue.
- Head up Vernal Avenue and look for the Boutique Couture sign.

How to reach 25 style fast
Style goes up when you finish a payment at certain Lumiose shops, and when you do certain activities in the city. It counts payments, not items. Buying 50 balls in one go counts once. Buying one ball fifty times counts fifty times. So always buy the cheapest single item, pay, and start a new purchase.

After the blackout: the Poké Ball Boutique
When you first arrive, a blackout closes off everything except South Boulevard and Vernal Avenue. The rest of the city opens after you beat Team Flare at the Kalos Power Plant and Clemont relights the Lumiose Gym. Then go to the Poké Ball Boutique on Autumnal Avenue. It doesn’t sell plain Poké Balls, so the cheapest ball there is the Premier Ball at $200.
- Talk to the clerk and buy one Premier Ball.
- Finish the purchase and leave the menu.
- Talk to the clerk again and repeat until you have made 13 separate purchases.
- Walk to Vernal Avenue. The door is now open.
Each purchase adds 2 style, so 13 purchases reach 26. That costs $2,600 from a brand-new save, less if you already shopped around Lumiose.
Before the blackout: the shops you can already use
On your first visit you can still raise style with the shops that are open. Prices below are for getting from 0 to 25 using one shop only. You can mix them freely.
| Where | What to buy or do | Style each time | Cost to reach 25 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trainer PR Video Studio | Make a PR video with “Create by yourself” | +1 | Free (25 videos) |
| Friseur Furfrou | Trim a Furfrou | +2 | 13 × $500 = $6,500 |
| Coiffure Clips | Front-only trim (female character) | +2 | 13 × $500 = $6,500 |
| Coiffure Clips | Haircut | +2 | 13 × $1,500 = $19,500 |
| Herboriste | One Heal Powder | +1 | 25 × $450 = $11,250 |
| Stone Emporium | One Fire, Water or Leaf Stone | +2 | 13 × $2,100 = $27,300 |
| Restaurant Le Nah | A meal | +2 | Price of each meal |
Friseur Furfrou needs a Furfrou in your party. You can catch one on Route 5, the road from Lumiose toward Camphrier Town; see its entry in the Pokédex. At Coiffure Clips a female character can pay $500 for a front-only style; a full styling is $1,500.
Style you pick up anyway
You don’t have to grind if you are in no hurry. Talking to Alexa for the first time gives a one-off +5. Looker’s case chapters at the Looker Bureau give larger boosts. Meals at Restaurant Le Yeah, Le Wow and Sushi High Roller, taxi and Gogoat Shuttle rides, the Battle Institute and the Lumiose Museum all add a little. Every purchase inside Boutique Couture adds 3 more.
How to check your style
There is no style meter, but the Mega Stone seller in the Stone Emporium gives it away. Once he is offering you a Kanto starter’s Mega Stone, talk to him and read the price, then say no. If he asks $300,000 or less, your style is at least 25 and Boutique Couture will let you in.
| Style | Mega Stone price | Boutique Couture door |
|---|---|---|
| 0–9 | $1,000,000 | Closed |
| 10–24 | $500,000 | Closed |
| 25–49 | $300,000 | Open |
| 50–89 | $150,000 | Open |
| 90–139 | $100,000 | Open |
| 140–189 | $70,000 | Open |
| 190–254 | $50,000 | Open |
| 255 | $10,000 | Open |

Keep farming past 25 if you want a cheaper stone. Maximum style takes 128 single Premier Ball purchases ($25,600), and the Mega Stone then costs $10,000.
Inside: floors, prices and weekday stock
Women’s clothes are on the first floor and men’s clothes are upstairs. You can walk onto the other floor and look around, but you can only buy clothes made for your own character. Pick a piece, try it on in the fitting room, and pay for everything you chose at once.
Prices run from $800 Knee Socks to the $300,000 Trench Coat Dress, and each color is only on the racks on certain days of the week. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have the same stock. If the color you want is missing, come back on another day.

The Discount Coupon
A shopper inside lets slip: “This is just between you and me... They say there is a coupon to receive a special discount...” That is the Discount Coupon, the one way to cut Couture prices. Its in-game description reads: “This special coupon allows you to buy items at a discount when you are shopping at a boutique.” It makes one whole payment half price at any Kalos clothing boutique, not only Boutique Couture. If you buy several pieces together from the fitting room, all of them get the discount, so save it for a big Couture order.
The coupon was a past event: the Pokémon Global Link’s PokéMileage Club offered it from January 14 to March 3, 2014. That event is over and the service has closed, so you only have it if you claimed it back then. It works once.
Not this Boutique Couture: Legends: Z-A
Pokémon Legends: Z-A also has a Boutique Couture on Vernal Avenue, but it unlocks differently. Follow the mission marker to the shop during Main Mission 26, “An Invitation from the SBC”. One step of that mission is a battle with the designer Asami’s level 50 Florges, which you have to win with a Mega Evolved Pokémon; the mission carries on after that. Z-A has no hidden style score, so buying Premier Balls won’t open anything. Anything that mentions missions or Asami is about Z-A.

Is it worth it?
Everything in Boutique Couture is cosmetic; nothing here makes your team stronger. Getting in is cheap and quick with the Premier Ball method, and the same style lowers your Mega Stone price. The clothes are another matter. At $180,000 for checked pants or $300,000 for the coat dress, they’re usually a late-game buy.
Troubleshooting
- Bought 20 balls in one order and still can’t get in? One order is one payment, which adds 2. Buy one ball per purchase.
- Can’t reach Autumnal Avenue? The blackout is still on. Use the PR video, Friseur Furfrou, Coiffure Clips or Herboriste until it is fixed.
- Clothes you saw online aren’t there? Stock changes by weekday, and the other floor only sells to the other gender.
- No coupon option at the register? You need a Discount Coupon in your Bag.
FAQ
How do I get into Boutique Couture in Pokémon X?
Raise your hidden Lumiose style to 25. The quickest way is 13 single Premier Ball purchases at the Poké Ball Boutique on Autumnal Avenue, about $2,600.
Is Boutique Couture different in Pokémon Y?
No. The location, the style check and the stock are the same in both games.
What does the Boutique Couture clerk check?
Only your style score. Your outfit, hairstyle and badges don’t affect it.
Which floor has men’s clothes?
The second floor. Women’s clothes are on the first floor.
What style do I need for Boutique Couture?
25. Boutique Couture admits you once your Lumiose style reaches 25, and the Mega Stone price at the Stone Emporium tells you whether you are there.
Can I still get the Discount Coupon?
No. It was a 2014 online reward, and that service has closed.
