The Battle Maison is the large building in the middle of Kiloude City, and you can enter it once you have the TMV Pass after the Hall of Fame. It runs win streaks in five formats: Single, Double, Triple, Rotation and Multi. Your Pokémon are set to level 50 if they are higher, you can’t use the Bag, and no two Pokémon or held items can be the same. Every win pays Battle Points (BP), and more of them the longer the streak gets. In the lobby you trade BP for held items, vitamins, TMs and the Ability Capsule (200 BP). A normal challenge ends at battle 20 against a Battle Chatelaine. Beat her and the Super version of that format opens, which has no end. Everything below is the same in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

|---|---|
| Where | Kiloude City, in the middle of town |
| When it opens | After the Hall of Fame, once you can ride the TMV (how to get to Kiloude City) |
| Formats | Single, Double, Triple, Rotation, Multi, and a Super version of each |
| Level | Pokémon above level 50 fight at 50; lower ones keep their level |
| Normal challenge | 20 battles; battle 20 is a Battle Chatelaine |
| Super challenge | Unlocks when you beat that format’s Chatelaine; no limit |
| BP per win | 1 to 20 in normal, 2 to 50 in Super, depending on the streak |
Most expensive prize | Ability Capsule, 200 BP |
| Exp. and EVs | None. Battles here don’t give either |
How to start a challenge

- Walk in and climb the stairs to the door at the back of the lobby (3 on the picture).
- Talk to a receptionist, choose Challenge and pick a format.
- Pick your team: 3 Pokémon for Single, 4 for Double, 6 for Triple, 4 for Rotation, and 2 for Multi.
- Pick a partner for Multi, or connect to a friend over local wireless.
- After each win you can Continue, Save or Interrupt.
The receptionist can also switch the battle music between four tracks.
Battle formats and Chatelaines
| Format | Pokémon you bring | Chatelaine |
|---|---|---|
| Single | 3 | Nita |
| Double | 4 | Evelyn |
| Triple | 6 | Dana |
| Rotation | 4 | Morgan |
| Multi | 2 per player | Evelyn with Dana or Morgan (normal), Nita with Dana or Morgan (Super) |
In the normal version of each format, battle 20 is against the Chatelaine. Win it and the receptionist says, “now you can take on the consecutive Super Single Battles” (or Double, Triple, Rotation, Multi). The normal challenge for that format then ends, and the next one starts at zero.
Super challenges keep going until you lose. The Chatelaine appears again at battle 50, this time with legendary Pokémon. Opponents get stronger at battles 11, 21, 31, 41 and 50.
Battle Maison rules
- Pokémon above level 50 fight at level 50. Pokémon below 50 stay where they are, so train everything to 50 at least.
- All Pokémon on your team must be different species, and all held items must be different. In Multi, you and a friend may share a species or an item.
- You can’t use items from the Bag.
- Your team is fully healed after each battle, and held items that were used or knocked off come back.
- No Exp. Points or EVs.
- Lose once and the streak goes back to zero.
Banned Pokémon
These Pokémon, in every form, can’t enter: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion. Eggs and Pokémon holding a Soul Dew aren’t allowed either.
Plenty of legendaries are allowed: the legendary birds, the legendary beasts, Latias and Latios, the Regis, the Forces of Nature and the Swords of Justice are all allowed. The Super Chatelaines use them too.
Interrupting and saving
Between battles, choose Save to keep your streak and play on later, or Interrupt to stop for now. Coming back to the same format picks the streak up again, and you can pick a different team. If you switch the game off in the middle of a challenge without saving, the receptionist says, “You didn’t save before you quit your challenge last time,” and the streak starts over.
How many BP you get per win
The BP for a win depends on how many battles in a row you’ve won, including that one. It’s the same in every format.
| Battle in the streak | Normal | Super |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | 1 BP | 2 BP |
| 11–19 | 2 BP | 3 BP |
| 20 (Chatelaine in normal) | 20 BP | 3 BP |
| 21–30 | – | 4 BP |
| 31–40 | – | 5 BP |
| 41–49 | – | 6 BP |
| 50 (Chatelaine) | – | 50 BP |
| 51 and up | – | 7 BP |
A full normal run of 20 wins pays 48 BP. A Super run to battle 50 pays 244 BP, enough for an Ability Capsule, and every win after that is 7 BP.
BP totals by streak
Your total BP from one unbroken streak, counted from the first win:
| Wins in a row | Normal total | Super total |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 10 BP | 20 BP |
| 19 | 28 BP | 47 BP |
| 20 | 48 BP | 50 BP |
| 30 | – | 90 BP |
| 40 | – | 140 BP |
| 49 | – | 194 BP |
| 50 | – | 244 BP |
| 60 | – | 314 BP |
| 100 | – | 594 BP |
The BP shop

These twelve TMs are only sold here. The rest are on the TM locations page.
What to buy first
| Prize | BP | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ability Capsule | 200 | Switches a Pokémon to the other regular Ability of its species. It can’t give a Hidden Ability, and nothing else in X or Y does this |
| Choice Scarf, Choice Band, Choice Specs, Assault Vest, Life Orb, Focus Sash | 48 each | The held items most competitive teams are built around |
| Power items | 16 each | Each adds 4 extra EVs in one stat for every Pokémon you defeat, so EV training goes much faster |
| Vitamins | 2 each | The shop in Laverre City charges $9,800 for one |
| Rare Candy | 48 | A lot of BP for one level. Buy the prizes above first |
You don’t buy Mega Stones here. Absolite comes from your rival in Kiloude City, and the rest are listed on the Mega Stones page.
Battle Chatelaine teams

The Chatelaines use a fixed team, though the order can change. Normal teams come at battle 20 and Super teams at battle 50.
| Chatelaine | Normal (battle 20) | Super (battle 50) |
|---|---|---|
| Nita, Single | Wigglytuff, Purugly, Grumpig | Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus |
| Evelyn, Double | Lumineon, Primeape, Pachirisu, Persian | Latios, Raikou, Entei, Suicune |
| Dana, Triple | Magneton, Dragalge, Piloswine, Magcargo, Whimsicott, Girafarig | Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Regirock, Regice, Registeel |
| Morgan, Rotation | Klefki, Mantine, Swalot, Sawsbuck | Latias, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion |
In Multi, two Chatelaines fight as a pair, and the pairs are fixed. In a normal Multi challenge, battle 20 is Evelyn with either Dana or Morgan. In Super Multi it’s Nita with either Dana or Morgan. Each of them sends out two Pokémon from her team for that level.
Multi Battle partners
For Multi you can bring a friend over local wireless, or pick a partner from Shauna, Tierno and Trevor. Each of them always brings the same two Pokémon:
| Partner | Pokémon and held items |
|---|---|
| Shauna | Sylveon (Leftovers), Goodra (Lum Berry) |
| Tierno | Hawlucha (Salac Berry), Talonflame (Sitrus Berry) |
| Trevor | Tyrantrum (Leftovers), Aurorus (Expert Belt) |
Registering more friend codes adds more partners to the list. Picking a partner doesn’t need the internet.
Streak rewards
| Streak | Reward |
|---|---|
| Battle 20, normal | 20 BP, and that format’s Super challenge opens |
| Battle 50, Super | 50 BP and a monument in the Maison “commemorating your 50 consecutive wins,” one per format |
| 100 wins in a row | Lansat Berry from the little girl in the lobby |
| 200 wins in a row | Starf Berry from the same girl |
Beating a Chatelaine also gives the team ribbons: the Skillful Battler Ribbon for a normal win and the Expert Battler Ribbon for a Super win.
Check your team before you go
- The right number of Pokémon: 3 for Single, 4 for Double, 6 for Triple, 4 for Rotation, 2 for Multi.
- No banned species (see the list above), no Eggs and no Soul Dew.
- No two Pokémon of the same species.
- No two Pokémon holding the same item.
- Level 50 or higher, if you want full stats. Lower levels aren’t raised.
The receptionist won’t let you start if your team breaks any of the first four.
Tips for long streaks
- Bring a level 50 team, or higher. Lower levels stay low.
- Items come back after every battle, so a Focus Sash or a berry is ready again for the next fight.
- Save between battles. A crash or a dead battery without a save costs you the streak.
- Spend early BP on Power items and vitamins, then on Choice items, the Assault Vest or the Life Orb. Save toward an Ability Capsule once your team is set.
More post-game help
The Kiloude City page covers the TMV Pass, the city map and its gifts. Your rival’s Absolite battle needs one Maison battle first; see Absol’s Mega Stone. The Maison gives no Exp., so level up elsewhere first; the Lucky Egg helps.
FAQ
How do you unlock Super battles in the Battle Maison?
Win 20 in a row in the normal version of a format. Battle 20 is the Chatelaine, and beating her opens the Super version of that format only.
How long does an Ability Capsule take?
200 BP takes 88 wins on normal challenges: four full runs pay 192 BP, and 8 more wins cover the rest. One Super run to battle 50 pays 244 BP.
Do Pokémon under level 50 get raised to 50?
No. Only Pokémon above 50 are lowered to 50. A level 40 Pokémon fights at level 40.
Do Battle Maison battles give Exp.?
No, and no EVs either.
Does the Battle Maison still work without Nintendo Network?
Yes. Every format works offline. Multi with a friend uses local wireless, and the computer partners need no connection.
Is the Battle Maison different in Pokémon Y?
No. Rules, BP, prizes, opponents and Chatelaines are the same in both games.
