You can’t walk to Kiloude City in Pokémon X and Y. You get there on the TMV, the high-speed train from Lumiose Station, and the train only takes you once you have the TMV Pass. Professor Sycamore hands it over at Lumiose Station after you enter the Hall of Fame. Beat Diantha, watch the credits, and you’re back home in Vaniville Town, where your mom tells you he’s waiting there. Go to the station on North Boulevard in Lumiose City, talk to him, then scan the pass at the orange machine by the gates and board. It works the same way in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

How to get the TMV Pass
- Beat the Elite Four and Champion Diantha, then sit through the credits. When they end, you’re back home in Vaniville Town.
- Go downstairs. Your mom says Professor Sycamore wants to meet you at Lumiose Station and suggests a quick cab ride.
- Head to Lumiose City. The station is the large building on North Boulevard.
- Inside, Sina and Dexio talk to you first and upgrade your Pokédex to the National Pokédex.
- Talk to Professor Sycamore next to the ticket gates. He gives you the TMV Pass and tells you about Kiloude City, “in the southern part of the Kalos region.”
- Walk up to the orange machine at the gate and scan the pass. Then board the train.
The pass goes in the Key Items pocket. Its description says it lets you “ride the TMV between Lumiose City and Kiloude City at any time,” and you never use it up. Without it, the gate staff stop you with “You can’t board without a pass.”
If Sycamore isn’t at the station
| What happened | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You haven’t seen the credits | The pass is a post-game gift | Win at the Pokémon League and let the credits finish |
| You went to the station before going home | The story continues at your house in Vaniville Town | Go home, talk to your mom, then return |
| You were told your mom gives you the pass | She only passes on Sycamore’s message | Get the pass from Sycamore himself, at the station |
| You already have it | He gives it once | Check Key Items in the Bag |
Riding the TMV
The ride is a short cutscene, and you step out in Kiloude Station in the southwest corner of the city. Trains back to Lumiose leave from the same platform, as often as you like. After your first visit you can also Fly there.
Before you leave Kiloude Station, talk to the Schoolgirl inside. She asks a question about a Pokémon, and a right answer gets you a Max Revive
. If she asks about Swirlix, the answer is “Threads.” If she asks about Spritzee, it’s “Perfume.”

Items and gifts in Kiloude City
| Item | Where and how |
|---|---|
Vs. Recorder | A Monsieur gives it to you when you first walk into the city |
Max Revive | The Schoolgirl in Kiloude Station, for a correct answer |
Max Revive | Hidden in the north of the city, in the corner north of the Artist |
Revive | The Hex Maniac in the house by the station, if you show her a Pokémon that knows Petal Blizzard |
| The girl in the house east of the Pokémon Center | |
| The Rising Star in the northwestern-most house | |
| DNA Splicers | The Punk Girl in the house next door, when you show her Kyurem |
Nugget | On the ground east of the Battle Maison |
PP Up | Hidden in the potted plant beside the path in front of the Friend Safari |
| Sundae Dress or Bamboo Sprig Hat | The Artist in the north of the city, if you wear three or more pieces of Feminine clothing (girl) or Colorful clothing (boy) |
| Your rival, the first time you beat them here |
The DNA Splicers need a Kyurem. You can’t catch one in X or Y, so trade one over from Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire (it appears in the Gnarled Den there) or from another X or Y save that has one, or bring one up from a Generation V game through Poké Transporter and Pokémon Bank. That last route only works if Pokémon Bank is already installed on your 3DS, because it can no longer be downloaded, and Nintendo ends the Bank service on February 25, 2027 at 7:00 PM Pacific (11:00 AM on February 26, Beijing time). Every other gift here needs nothing from outside Kalos.
The Poké Mart and the IV judge
The Pokémon Center has two Poké Mart counters. One sells the usual items. The other sells five TMs at post-game prices:
| TM | Price |
|---|---|
| TM50 Overheat | $80,000 |
| TM93 Wild Charge | $50,000 |
| TM68 Giga Impact | $90,000 |
| TM33 Reflect | $30,000 |
| TM16 Light Screen | $30,000 |
The IV judge stands inside the Pokémon Center. Show him a Pokémon and he rates its potential and names its best stat. For every other TM in Kalos, see the TM locations page.
Your rival in Kiloude City

Calem or Serena only turns up once you’ve battled at the Battle Maison. Complete one battle there, then walk north to the pond.
The first win against them gets you Absolite (“I found two Absolite!”) and a message that Sycamore is waiting at the sundial in Anistar City, where your Mega Ring is upgraded. Talk to them again later for a rematch, but the stone only comes once. Their six Pokémon are levels 66 to 70: Meowstic, Absol, Clefable and Altaria, plus two that depend on your starter:
| If you chose | Eeveelution (Lv. 66) | Starter (Lv. 70) |
|---|---|---|
| Chespin | Jolteon | Delphox |
| Fennekin | Flareon | Greninja |
| Froakie | Vaporeon | Chesnaught |
Absol holds the Absolite in that battle. Every step after the stone, plus how to Mega Evolve Absol, is on the Absol Mega Stone page, and the full Mega Ring order is in all Mega Stones in X and Y.
The Battle Maison
The big building in the middle of the city is the Battle Maison. Pokémon above level 50 are scaled down to 50 while you battle there (lower ones stay as they are), and every win earns Battle Points (BP), which buy TMs, held items, vitamins and the Ability Capsule. Formats, rules, BP per win and the full shop are on the Battle Maison page.
The Friend Safari
The Friend Safari is at the northeast edge of the city. Each 3DS friend adds a safari with one type and up to three Pokémon species. The dependable way to open the third slot and Hidden Abilities is for that friend to enter the Hall of Fame and then meet you in the PSS. Once Hidden Abilities are unlocked, Pokémon in all three slots can have them. Nintendo Network for 3DS shut down on April 8, 2024, so that meeting now has to happen over local wireless; you can still register friends on the 3DS friend list. The Eevee page walks through one safari in detail.
